Modern Surfboards Highline 2.0 5'9"- Clear

With the Modern Highline, we looked at what beginner to advanced surfers want from a surfboard to gain as much surfing experience as possible. To become a better surfer, catching waves and building confidence is key, so we designed this board to be very buoyant (easy to paddle), stable (easy to get on your feet), and easy to control (smooth turns and go where you want on a wave). Essentially, we built this board to redefine the first steps in surfing so people can develop their skills faster and maximize the fun of riding waves.

OUTLINE: The outline is the key to the Highline's amazing stability. We basically took the midsection of a longboard, tapered the nose to a semi-point and added a nicely curved, square tail, and by reducing the overall length of the board, turning side to side remains easier.

ROCKER: The low rocker means that this board paddles very quickly into the waves and maintains its speed once you are on the water. In this case, flat means flow and less effort for the surfer to get the board going.

CONTOURS: The front concave helps channel water efficiently over the flatter rocker, especially when paddling and launching. The back half of the board has a raised vee with double concave to balance the width and allow for easier transitions from one rail to another during turns.

FOIL: The foil has plenty of volume throughout the length, but enough taper in the nose to avoid a "boat-like" feel. The rails are full, but still soft, making them forgiving as you glide across the surface and link your turns together.

PERFORMANCE: This model can be ridden shorter due to the extra width and higher volume, which is a huge advantage for beginners and intermediate riders developing their turning skills. Better surfers should switch to cruise mode before riding the Highline. It has a large sweet spot and offers a very smooth ride, especially in smaller, soft-running beach and point waves.
