Suntribe was founded in 2016 by Karl, Hampus and Julia – three friends who love nature as much as we love pushing ourselves to the limit while surfing, climbing or running.
Here you can see the three founders, from left: Hampus (who doesn't yet know that he will soon have a good portion of natural sunscreen in his hair), Karl (enjoying this way too much) and Julia (can hardly stop laughing).
How did we end up starting Suntribe? We started Suntribe because we feel at home in nature and want to protect our home. We are fed up with the old and overly commercial way of making sunscreens and, to be honest, we are also upset with the way things are. In the sunscreen industry these days, anything goes - you can use ingredients that are proven to be dangerous to nature and humans and it's all perfectly legal. Crazy, right?
Our mission is to help make a change. That's why we develop safe, natural sunscreens that are 100% free of synthetic chemicals and unnecessary ingredients like perfume and preservatives. Our products prove that you can combine high functionality and safe ingredients, there is no reason to compromise. We never use ingredients that contradict these ideals, for example we don't use synthetic ingredients just because they are cheaper. That is not what Suntribe stands for.
Our philosophy is based on using the most natural and pure ingredients that are proven to be safe for humans and the environment, while still maintaining their functionality. That's why we only use organic oils, waxes, butters and natural minerals to formulate our cosmetics. That's why we subject all of our products to rigorous, real-world testing before launching them on the market. When we develop a sunscreen for surfers, we test it in the harshest weather conditions, on a variety of skin types and in the biggest waves until we are 100% satisfied with its effectiveness.
The same goes for our other cosmetic products like our body butters and face creams. They are all carefully crafted and developed together with skincare enthusiasts to ensure they meet the high standards our customers expect.
